1. About us and these terms
  • Apply to all skip hire, waste collection and tipping by Oakwood Plant Ltd. Placing an order, tipping at the site or signing a weighbridge ticket means you accept them.
  • Oakwood Plant Ltd, Oakwood House, 28 Nobel Road, Edmonton N18 3BH. Company no. 01293096, VAT 292140376, environmental permit 80316.
  • These terms override any terms you send us unless agreed in writing.
2. Orders, prices and payment
  • Prices are as quoted and exclude VAT unless stated. Tipping charges are based on our weighbridge reading.
  • Extra charges can apply for undeclared or restricted items, overfilled or overweight containers, contaminated loads, extended hire, wasted journeys, waiting time and fines caused by you.
  • Account customers pay within agreed terms, otherwise 30 days. Everyone else pays at order or before tipping. Late payment may attract statutory interest.
  • Invoice queries must be raised within 14 days.
3. Waste acceptance and your duty of care
  • Describe your waste accurately (EWC code where known) and meet your Duty of Care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • Declare before delivery or collection: batteries, WEEE, mattresses, carpets, gas bottles, plasterboard, tyres, liquids, oils, paint, fridges and freezers, and any hazardous waste. These may be charged extra.
  • Not accepted: asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, explosives, ammunition, flares, or anything our permit excludes, unless agreed in writing.
  • We may inspect, reject or reclassify any load. Ownership passes to us once a load is accepted and tipped.
4. Skip and container hire
  • Standard hire is 14 days from delivery. After that we may charge per extra day or week, or collect.
  • Containers stay our property. Do not move, lend or re-hire them.
  • Keep safe, clear access for our vehicle; blocked access may be charged as a wasted journey.
  • Private land: placement is at your risk, including damage to driveways, paving, drains or lawns.
  • Public highway: you are responsible for a valid skip licence, bay suspension, lights, cones and covering, even where we arrange the licence.
  • Do not overfill above the top edge or beyond the safe weight. No fires or hot ash. You are responsible for the container and its contents while on hire.
5. Liability, cancellation and general
  • Our liability is limited to the price paid for the service, except where the law does not allow limits (e.g. death or injury caused by our negligence).
  • Report any damage you believe we caused within 48 hours, with photos if possible.
  • Cancel free of charge up to 5pm the working day before delivery. Later cancellations or a wasted journey may be charged.
  • Consumers keep their rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Governed by the law of England and Wales.
6. Site rules, Nobel Road transfer station
  • Report to the weighbridge on arrival and declare your load before tipping.
  • 5 mph speed limit. Follow signs and marshals. Tip only where directed.
  • Hi-vis at all times outside your vehicle; safety boots in tipping areas. Stay in or next to your vehicle and keep clear of moving plant.
  • Sheets and nets stay on until told, and go back on before leaving.
  • No children or animals out of vehicles. No smoking or vaping. No scavenging. CCTV operates across the site.
  • Report any accident, near miss, spill or damage to staff straight away.
